Branch Chair Report 2020
Branch Chair – Lynn Gillespie
Following Community Conference last year James finally managed to sweet talk me whilst we were at service group executive to be Branch Chair. In all honesty I would have probably offered sooner but I knew that Tuesdays were not a good day for me but with the acceptance of the rest of the branch committee we brought the monthly meetings forward 30 mins to accommodate me for which I am grateful.
From 17-21 June I attended NDC and again lots of interesting motions and speakers especially our outgoing president, Gordon McKay who attempted a bit of stand up during his passionate speech to conference on his year in office and did succeed in making us laugh. I do enjoy conference and especially the fringe meetings which this year found me contributing yet again to the discussion around violence at work.
I continue with James to represent the branch at Regional Committee and Service Group Executive as well as dealing with all the issues at Citizen which tend to get resolved very quickly thankfully.
I would like to thank the other branch officers and the branch staff for their tireless work and look forward to another productive year hopefully with some much-needed young members as 2019 was the year of the young members and unfortunately at present we do not have a young members officer and I hope we can rectify that very soon.
The main subject of our branch meetings was how to engage members in attending the AGM and we eventually came up with the suggestion which has come to fruition today and I hope that it has enticed more of our members to attend.
