On behalf of everyone welcome to UNISON West Midlands Community Branch.

If you ever have an issue your workplace then the Branch Support Officers (BSO’s) would be your first post of call. We are contactable on 0330 124 8373, please do leave a voicemail if the call is not answered, or via email [email protected]

We would then gather all of the information and allocate you the right caseworker to deal with the issue. UNISON do however have a four week rule,  anything that happened before or during the four weeks of joining,   we can only offer telephone advice, we cannot represent you at any meetings

What we do ?

Do you work in a charity, housing association, community or third sector organisation in the West Midlands? If so, UNISON is your union and your branch is the West Midlands Community Branch (WMC)

UNISON West Midlands Community Branch represents  members working in the community, housing, voluntary and charity sectors. We advocate for the improvement of the working lives of over five and a half thousand members, working across more than 650 employers. Our members come together to improve their pay, terms and conditions at work. Our members include:

  • front line carers and support staff providing services to some of the most vulnerable people in society including the homeless, people in care homes, hospices and secure housing and those who need support in their own homes.
  • Day centres and nurseries for adults and children with additional needs
  • Housing officers

Our members are employed in a wide variety of jobs, what we share is a set of common challenges facing this sector. All organisations are afflicted by insecure funding due to harsh austerity measures that have a negative effect on pay, terms and conditions. We can only secure the pay, safety and terms in our jobs that we deserve for the vital work we all undertake by working together as part of UNISON. Join now!

Members should be aware it is a basic condition of UNISONS services that we are your sole representative in employment matters. If you seek advice from third parties such as ACAS or solicitors UNISON reserves the right to withdraw its services at any time.

Your representation should always be an agreement between you and your representative and third-party involvement and advice undermines this position and relationship. If you choose at any point to not follow the advice of your representative this is of course your choice, but will mean that this will end UNISONS representation of you on this matter and you are free to seek advice from any other source.

If at any point service is withdrawn, you do have the right to appeal to your Branch Secretary clearly setting out why you believe this should not have been the case.
